A community street audit in Tewkesbury revealed issues with the town centre’s directional signage. The existing signs were found to be incomplete, difficult to read, and ineffective in promoting Tewkesbury’s visitor attractions. The High Street Heritage Action Zone project, funded by Historic England, provided the necessary resources to update and improve the wayfinding signage throughout the town.
Following a competitive tender, isGroup were awarded the contract for wayfinding in Tewkesbury Town Centre. Working with environmental designers Placemarque for the design, isGroup manufactured and installed pedestrian wayfinding and interpretation signage in Tewkesbury Town Centre.
Following an initial meeting to confirm requirements isGroup surveyed and CAT scanned all of the locations to confirm suitability
and create RAMS.
The WAY2GO AR signage system was used to display an augmented reality version of each sign at each location in Tewkesbury so the clients could see an augmented version of the signage before confirming the locations. CAD drawings and graphics were provided to Tewkesbury Council for discussion and approval before the signage moved into Production.
isGroup manufactured and installed:
– 9 WAY2GO Totems with a bespoke configuration
– 15 Way2GO Fingerposts with vinyl graphics to face of the 122 fingers.
– 5 Lectern replacement 3mm ecodura panels
– 1 New stainless steel lectern to match style of existing lecterns
– 7 Replacement 10mm ecodura panels for existing totem frame
– 30 Trail markers, cast bronze with an old penny finish.
– isGroup also removed unwanted signage to be replaced and updated.
Tewkesbury residents and visitors can now benefit from enhanced pedestrian wayfinding throughout the historic town. The new system
highlights local attractions and includes walking times and “you are here” markers to emphasise points of interest.
