Pitlochry Totems

Pitlochry

The Pitlochry Dam and Visitor Centre is a major attraction for those visiting the area and also plays a vital role in facilitating the annual migration of around 5,000 salmon as they make their remarkable 6,000-mile journey back to their spawning grounds.

The existing viewing areas are no longer in use and isGroup were chosen to manufacture four themed totems for the new site to serves as engaging platforms to showcase information about this awe-inspiring journey.

Totems

The totems, manufactured from 3.2m treated steel panels, boast an elegant curved design at the top, with a stunning fish scale etched pattern. Two of these remarkable structures are equipped with built-in monitors featuring digital screens and protected by waterproof casings. These screens serve as a captivating platform, showcasing interpretation materials and footage, depicting the awe-inspiring journey of the salmon as they make their way up the river.

By presenting the story of the salmon’s journey in a visually appealing and accessible manner, the totems contribute to raising awareness and understanding of the challenges exhibited by the salmon during their epic migration. This new site enhances the visitor experience at Pitlochry Dam and Visitor Centre.
