Broughty Ferry has a long and fascinating history and boasts a beautiful coastline that attracts both locals and tourists. This project aimed to highlight the rich industrial heritage of the region while also providing an educational and aesthetically pleasing experience for visitors.

Transforming Heritage into Art

isGroup worked directly with the artist from the beginning of the project and artistic sketches were used with CAD design to assist the manufacturing process. These totems were designed to display heritage information in a visually engaging way with each panel focussing on a specific theme.

The team at isGroup manufactured three large sail-shaped totems which now serve as a striking focal point within the landscape of Broughty Ferry. Elements of the towns industrial past were laser cut into corten steel resulting in these beautifully crafted totems. The use of corten steel for this project ensures durability, allowing the totems to withstand various weather conditions and maintain their aesthetic appeal over time. The inherent oxidised surface of corten steel adds a rustic charm that complements both natural and urban environments.
