IS Group was awarded the tender by Imagemakers to manufacture and install a series of bespoke heritage signage elements across the Royal Hospital Chelsea, one of the UK’s most historic and architecturally significant sites.

The brief demanded absolute sensitivity to the Grade I listed setting, adherence to conservation requirements and craftsmanship of the highest standard. Working closely with Imagemakers’ design team, IS Group engineered a suite of interpretive, directional and decorative signage elements that enhance the visitor experience while respecting the historic fabric.

The project combined traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing precision, resulting in a cohesive, long-lasting and beautifully integrated signage scheme.

Scope of Works

A diverse range of bespoke signage and interpretive elements, including:

  • PrimaDura aluminium folded wall signs for external information
  • A-boards for visitor communication
  • 2.5mm aluminium Guard Silhouette panels with engraved and powder-coated detail
  • Cast bronze insignia, 10mm thick, wall-mounted
  • Portland limestone bay labelling plaques with engraved and infilled lettering
  • Cast bronze floor plates in a penny bronze finish
  • Tactile cast bronze wall map, designed for inclusive access
  • PrimaDura aluminium interpretation signs for wayfinding and storytelling
The result is a dignified and historically sympathetic suite of signage that sits seamlessly within the site’s unique surroundings.

  • Specialist aluminium fabrication, including PrimaDura-coated panels and custom silhouette guards
