isGroup were successful in a competitive tender for the fit out and fabrication of Locomotion New Hall Interpretation signage. This project is part of the ‘Vision 2025’ transformation of the National Railway Museum and Locomotion Shildon.
New Hall is a brand new building housing 47 rail vehicles on three pairs of tracks. This new building draws on the aesthetic of an
engine shed to link back to the towns history as the world’s first railway town.
Following initial meetings to discuss the project in more depth, detailed CAD drawings were created by our in-house technical
team. When designing the signage, consideration was made for ease of maintenance of the signs and also the surrounding areas.
The sign design also allow for removal and future repositioning of the signage around the museum.
isGroup manufactured three prototypes and key personnel from the Science Museum Group visited our factory in North
Wales to view the prototype and discuss changes.

All 46 signage units were manufactured and assembled before being delivered and installed at the Locomotion Museum in Shilden.
We are thrilled to have played a key role in this project by manufacturing and installing signage throughout the new building.
Our signage not only conveys key information to visitors in an aesthetically pleasing manner but considerations were also made for
ease of maintenance of the signs and the surrounding areas.
