During 2016 and 2017 isGroup was chosen by Fred & Ginger Productions, a leading Cheshire advertising and design agency, to manufacture and install signage for two major Liverpool hospitals, the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital and Liverpool Broadgreen Hospital.
The main problem Fred & Ginger encountered was that although the two hospitals were in close proximity to one another they had different signage systems in place. Both systems were out-dated inconsistent and inaccurate departmental information displayed.
Fred & Ginger Productions Limited performed various site surveys to clarify the requirements and also undertook several patient and staff consultation meetings to try and understand why patients and visitors were getting lost within the site. Following the consultations Fred & Ginger designed a clear and concise wayfinding system utilising a colour-coding system to direct patients, staff and visitors to a chosen location.
isGroup was chosen due to it’s proximity and experience in working with the designers to accomplish the brief. isGroup’s in house manufacturing capability involved artwork preparation for sign off, manufacture of signs in aluminium and composite, painting, direct-to-face printing of signs and vinyl lettering.
The signage scheme consisted of internal and external wall directories, exterior building signage, suspended ceiling signage, internal and external wayfinding maps, which were predominately freestanding lecterns, plus twenty-one totem signs as part of the successful wayfinding scheme.
