isGroup was appointed by Zerum to manufacture and install the signage scheme for University Academy 92, a game-changing model of Higher Education, inspired by Gary Neville and the Class of 92. The scheme involved internal refurbishment of 130,000 sq ft and accommodated more than 2000 students, over 5 floors.
The signage scheme incorporated external and internal components. Due to the size and nature of the project there was a crucial requirement for external advertisement, while construction work was being carried out. isGroup produced over 60 fence mounted hoarding panels, manufactured in-house from aluminium composite panels with digitally printed graphics. Although hoarding is a temporary measure it is important that the graphics and the completed works promote your brand effectively.
Other external signage included entrance cladding perforated painted aluminium panels, with acrylic internally illuminated letters over the doorway. White vinyl text accompanied the illuminated acrylic letters which had vinyl patterns applied to the face to replicate UA92’s detailed logo.
Built-up high level internally LED illuminated letters completed the external signage package. The letters were mounted on a three-part framework which isGroup designed for minimal visual impact, with vertical bracing hidden behind the letter shapes as much as possible. The framework served to obscure cabling from each of the letters routed back into the building. As per UA92’s request the built-up lettering needed to appear one colour during the day then another at night. isGroup’s solution was day/night acrylic faces, meaning non illumination during the day to appear black and illuminated at night to appear white.
Internally the signage comprised of aluminium wayfinding directories, glass manifestations and large vinyl graphics. Signage for the coffee house branch TAKK required projecting hanging signs made from wood, while white acrylic letters finished the TAKK branding. The wayfinding directories were manufactured out of aluminium with foamex to the rear, each directory was powder coated with plotted vinyl graphics. The uniqueness of the UA92 brand was carried thought the signage with wayfinding directories which saw the directories aluminium folded around the walls they were mounted to.
Vinyl graphics run thought the internal signage scheme from small toilet graphics to large feature walls in the student amenity areas. Graphics were produced from high tack vinyl developed to apply to ‘difficult to stick to’ surfaces. The product gives additional assurance of the high bond adhesive and delivers outstanding print performance. The result is a colourful display to bring the UA92 branding and personality to life.
