The first phase of the £5m redevelopment of Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, Lancaster was completed in 2016 and the stated requirement was for an array of colourful signage to reflect the transformation of an old building into a new exciting contemporary space.
IsGroup was delighted to work within its home region of the North West and to work on a scheme that was designed to bring pleasure to the local community. The design was defined by working with the facility developers, Alliance Leisure as well as the clients in both the Education and Leisure Departments of Lancaster City Council and their interior designers, Bignall Shacklady Ewing.
To reflect the welcome of the main entrance area, isGroup manufactured built up illuminated letters and produced glazing manifestations throughout the facility.
Internal signage included fret cut lettering and customised timber chalk menu boards in the Café area, acrylic noticeboards for information holders to be placed and striking illustrations of digitally printed wallpaper transformed key areas with townscape skylines, cartoon animals in the soft play area and a montage of Lancaster’s landmarks and icons, such as the “House of the Lancaster” Rose and much loved former TV personality, Eric Morecambe.
To complete the works, the installation team attended site and liaised with the main contractor and client to keep disruption to a minimum and client satisfaction to a maximum!
