isGroup were appointed by AMEY LG on behalf of Liverpool City Council to deliver a new wayfinding system.
We had previously worked on the architectural award-winning project, The Albert Dock, by Holmes Wood.
Isgroup manufactured and installed three 9-metre high totem signs, internally illuminated to display ‘Pier Head’ down a single side in stylish, white flush fitted acrylic letters. These were accompanied with ten double-sided wayfinding signs and one four-sided monolith, linking key areas.
Materials were carefully chosen for the wayfinding signs to give them a modern, contemporary finish. They house LED-illuminated display cases so seasonal entertainment can be promoted.
Liverpool’s underground services complicated the laying of cabling. Our innovative solution was solar power, which proved to be cost-effective and, of course, green!
Pier Head’s new signage welcomes visitors alighting from the cruises. The area is now joined with Albert Dock with consistent wayfinding signs and feature totems that promote Liverpool city centre as a tourist destination.
