isGroup won Best Illuminated Sign of the Year at the British Sign & Graphics Awards 2015 for its scheme at the Printworks, Manchester. Following this and as the nominated sign company to the Printworks, when the Harvester restaurant vacated the venue isGroup was requested to manufacture the replacement signage for O’Neill’s Irish bar.
The requirement was for high level external signage on Corporation Street which included the removal and disposal of the existing sign.
CAD drawings were produced by isGroup to demonstrate how the proposed fixings would hold the letters onto the structural steelwork. Once client approval for these drawings was given, isGroup delivered the project using built up deep trough letters that were almost 2metres tall and featured opal acrylic faces and LED’s for face illumination. As Principal Contractor isGroup supervised health and safety on site and liaised with the Printworks’ Electrical Contractor to arrange connection of the LEDs.
The Printworks location always presents logistical challenges given its busy city centre location. isGroup worked with stakeholders at Metrolink and the City Council. Permits were obtained and high access equipment used as well as the installers having to abseil to the location. The area was cordoned off and the isGroup installation team worked out of hours to avoid disruption.
isGroup’s installation team contain members who have SMSTS, SSSTS, PASMA, MEWP, NRWSA and Working at Height certifications. isGroup is accredited with CHAS and Safe Contractor and is a Constructionline Gold Member. The company is a member of the British Safety Council and is one of a very small number of signage companies to be BSEN1090-2 accredited, meaning they are able to CE mark their structures. isGroup takes the safety of its staff, its clients and the public in general very seriously.
