The new Conwy County Council HQ development was a former Grade 11 listed civic building and the design was to create a lasting legacy for the town of Colwyn Bay. Working with main contractor Bowmer & Kirkland and AHR Architects, isGroup secured the instruction to deliver both external and internal signage.
Externally, the grade 316 built up brushed stainless letters and logo were installed at high level and housed internal LED’s to provide face illumination. Mounted on stainless steel ladder frames, the structures spanned over 4 metres in width and were installed at 14 metres and 18 metres above ground level in the West and East locations. A timer switch with daylight sensor was fitted to each of the locations and opaque back trays mount prevented light spill through the façade glazing. The isGroup team conducted 2 site visits due to the high level nature of the scheme to confirm size constraints, cable access and access equipment required.
The installation team had to operate within the defined boundary of the building in order to avoid traffic interruption during normal working hours. isGroup’s installation team is extensively trained in Working at Height and have the appropriate MEWP and PASMA qualifications and once all challenges were overcome, the external branding of the new building was complete and it was time to turn attention to the next phase.
The internal scheme included complementary brushed stainless halo illuminated entrance signage and floor level indicators, a range of brushed copper aluminium and brushed silver information signs, super-graphics floor level numerals and finally, non-touch Digital Advertising Displays mounted into stainless steel framework between the building’s mullions.
