isGroup were invited to complete wayfinding and interpretation signage throughout the historic town Barnard Castle, as part of a continual improvement programme in the area.
The team worked closely with design consultants, Placemarque on the interpretation graphics prior to commencing the sign manufacture. Initially CAD manufacturing drawings were produced to ensure our designs were a true reflection of the concept design.
A customised four-sided totem sign was manufactured and included wayfinding map graphics on toughened glass and a sandblasted sandstone feature applied to the lower sections. The stone was locally sourced and sympathetic to the historical market towns environment. To finish, two display cases were provided as an ongoing advertisement opportunity for upcoming local events.
A complementing wayfinding wall panel and a set of cast bronze waymarkers completed the signage scheme.
“We worked with isGroup to develop a bespoke sign structure for the historic market town of Barnard Castle, County Durham. isGroup provided a good collaborative service working with us to develop the sign details, looking at options to develop a wider strategy of signs and maps in the town and then making and installing the sign to budget. The sign structure is now installed, has been well received.” – Director, Placemarque
