Placemaking consultants, Placemarque, gave isGroup the opportunity to really flex its technical and logistical muscles – to turn an idea developed by leading brand agency, The Chase for two new feature entrance signs at Alderley Park into reality.
Appointed as both Principle Contractor and Principle Designers, isGroup were responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety. Our SSSTS and SMSTS Operatives prepared two new reinforced concrete foundations and managed all schedules on site. A site survey and CAT scan was conducted at the locations to ensure the groundworks were adequate.
The two-tonne, 2.4m reinforced pre-cast concrete version of the brandmark was finished in Portland Stone and features internal steel reinforcement. Once the concrete was cured and removed from the moulds, laser cut painted stainless steel letters were bonded into the recess. A protective coating was applied to seal and repeal water and the onset of algae.
isGroup’s team of coded welders fabricated a bespoke cantilever structure, using an internal steel framework to BSEN1090-2 standard. A series of aluminium top hats provided the tolerance to clad the framework, with interlocking aluminium panels. The sign displays fret cut, flush finished ‘Alderley Park’, which is internally illuminated using Sloane LED’s.
During the installations, isGroup operated safely in the knowledge that all traffic management was controlled under 278 Works permit it had secured with Cheshire East Council.
