In November this year the BBC undertook a thorough investigation into Universal Credit and all their filming was done in Flintshire which is where isGroup’s factory headquarters is based. The documentary showed how people on Universal Credit in this community had been forced into poverty and had rent arrears of, on average, six times the amount owed by those on Housing Benefit – the highest statistics in Wales.
With this in mind, isGroup’s Managing Director Jane Whitehouse decided that this year she wanted the company to make a contribution to the local community and in response to the appeal for urgently needed food items, she went shopping for a selection of tinned meat fish and vegetables, rice, biscuits and toiletries
Jane said “At this time of year it is thinking about people less fortunate than ourselves and how we can assist the local community. We all got together and decided that this year we would all like to donate food and we had an excellent response”.
Chris Whitehouse, Jane’s son and isGroup Project Director helped Jane deliver the boxes to the Raikes Lane Foodbank in Flint.
