The Event

isGroup was approached by Historic Royal Palaces to design, manufacture and install portable freestanding displays to be used as a wayfinding solution for their event; Superbloom – to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee year of Her Majesty The Queen at the Tower of London.

To mark the occasion, over 20 million seeds have been sown in the moat which will develop and morph over the course of the summer, to create a beautiful, new naturalistic landscape. isGroup created unique wayfinding and direction signs to help visitors see the information they need to navigate around the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the surrounding areas.

See the design and manufacturing process of the freestanding displays below.

The Process

isGroup had the brief to create freestanding displays that could be in situ on a variety of uneven surfaces in and around the Tower of London for a period of four months. More challenging than it sounds!

isGroup produced structural calculations, CAD and 3D designs, and built two prototypes to test and develop the right product.

isGroup pioneered a freestanding, slimline, portable wayfinding signage system. Consisting of two sign types, one with a planter and one without, both self-weighted. An aluminium frame was built, powder coated to the client’s choice of colours to protect the signs from the elements.

Lockable snap frames were used to house aluminium graphic panels, while adjustable feet ensured the signs could be levelled on uneven ground. Finally, castor wheels were added to ensure the signs could easily be transported.

The snap frame allows for changeable graphics meaning the signage can be used at future events.

The signs were approved by our structural engineer and are self-weighted by masonry flags or planters depending on the design. This type of signage is ideal for indoor and outdoor events, pop-up events, and temporary events as they are easily portable to and from locations.
