isGroup has become one out of a handful of UK sign companies to achieve accreditation with Alcumus for the BSEN1090-2 standard for its structural steel products.
The accreditation comes following 12 months of work towards the prestigious industry standard, during which time isGroup employed a Responsible Welding Co-ordinator and trained its welders to a coded standard for welding both steel and aluminium, in order to comply with the requirements of the BSEN1090-2 standard.
isGroup also worked closely with CDL Group, who specialise in welder coding, to implement a factory production manual which covers all areas of the manufacturing process including:
- Project management
- CAD design drawings for manufacture with welds identified
- Factory layout with segregation of materials to prevent contamination
- Audit testing of samples by Responsible Welding co-ordinator
The accreditation allows isGroup to CE mark its fabricated structural steel products that are load bearing in compliance with the Construction Products Regulation of 2014, which states:
As of the 1st July 2014 Companies supplying structural steel components in the EU must be certified to BS EN 1090 and implement CE Marking for their products to comply with the Construction Products Regulations, any organisations who design and/or manufacture steel components must adhere to this standard. The Construction Products Regulations (CPR) seeks to harmonise the safety performance and ensure traceability of construction products across the European Union (EU).
Jane Whitehouse, Managing Director at isGroup, said: “We are all very pleased with our achievement as we are one of only a handful of sign companies in the country to become accredited.
“Our customers can be assured of the level of detail that goes into our manufacturing process to provide totems and other structural items that are to an agreed standard.”
