Grosvenor Park, Chester

Sector – Public Realm & Heritage

isGroup was appointed by Mansell Construction Ltd to manufacture bespoke external signage for the Grosvenor Park in Chester city centre.

Project Delivery

The isGroup team presented six Fingerposts to navigate visitors effortlessly, a small collection of three double-sided wayfinding totems including a mapping feature and lastly, three interpretation lecterns at key heritage locations on site.

The directional fingerpost signs are galvanised and painted green, in keeping with the park’s heritage theme along with the fingers, manufactured from aluminium.

isGroup manufactured bespoke totems with vitreous enamel panels in keeping with previous Chester signage schemes linking the park to the rest of the city, which isGroup also provided. Both totems included European air-dried oak to the lower panel with an image elegantly engraved and treated with oil for future preservation.

To complete the Grosvenor Park signage, isGroup installed interpretation lecterns, illustrating the heritage at key points around the park including the ‘Heritage Features’ panel, directing to ‘Marques Statue’, ‘Billy Hobby’s Well’, ‘The Belvedere’ and ‘The Lodge’.

Result: The Grosvenor Park expands on Chester city centre’s signage schemes with bespoke external fingerposts signs, wayfinding totems and interpretation lecterns. Along with the work at the park by Mansell Construction, isGroup’s in-keeping signage scheme has revitalised the public space and enables visitors to enjoy their time in a park steeped in history.
